From the rise of misogynistic influencers online to growing restrictions on girls’ rights to education, harmful gender norms are impacting communities across the globe. So, how can the most persistent harmful norms be tackled and how can community and faith leaders support these efforts? We spoke with Kalpana Rai, a gender expert and young activist from Nepal and member of the Beyond Beijing Committee (a project funded by ARROW) about her experience of working with faith leaders to build more gender equal communities.

Bodily autonomy for all young people is one of the three focus areas outlined in SheDecides new Strategic Plan, alongside abortion rights and comprehensive sexuality education. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), which will provide our community with an opportunity to come together, celebrate the advances in SRHR and highlight where progress still needs to be made.

In particular, SheDecides will use the moment to put a spotlight on young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights. We spoke to Lewis Emmerton, SheDecides Senior Policy Advisor to learn more about how, and why?

As we kick off the new year, we take a moment to look back on all that happened in 2023 and drive forward our work in 2024 with renewed commitment and focus.

World leaders and ministers gathered last week at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, to discuss how the 17 global goals on Sustainable Development can be reached by 2030 - leaving no one behind. 

Last week SheDecides, in partnership with the Global Safe Abortion Dialogue, hosted a concurrent session at Women Deliver 2023. The session, titled “Abortion is Healthcare: UHC Best Practices, from Politics to Provision” explored best practices, progress and innovations on delivering abortion as essential healthcare.
