SheDecides works with Champions and allies to promote safe abortion in the Francophone region.
Unsafe abortion remains a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide.
In Francophone Africa alone, around 1.8 million unsafe abortions are carried out every year.
Whilst progress is being made to advance access to safe abortion in the region, more must be done to prioritise the health and well being of women and girls.

Spotlighting safe abortion at Women Deliver
In 2023 SheDecides, in partnership with the Global Safe Abortion Dialogue, proudly hosted a concurrent session at the Women Deliver 2023 conference.
The session, titled “Abortion is Healthcare: UHC Best Practices, from Politics to Provision” explored best practices, progress and innovations on delivering abortion as essential healthcare.
